Why Japan?

Coming from a tech background, Triveni was drawn to Japan’s reputation for innovation and technological excellence. “I wanted to gain global experience, and Japan felt like the perfect place to advance my career,” she shared. For her, working in Japan meant more than just a job—it was about immersing herself in a country that leads in the tech space and expanding her horizons.

How Her Education and Internships Paved the Way

Triveni credits her education for building a strong foundation in programming and problem-solving, but it was her internships that prepared her for real-world challenges. Her internship at Cognavi was particularly impactful, giving her insights into workplace dynamics and helping her apply her technical skills to real projects.

She also had hands-on experience as a UI/UX designer at KISSS Industries Pvt Ltd and worked on machine learning projects. These internships not only strengthened her technical skills but also gave her a deeper understanding of technology, preparing her for the competitive global market. “These experiences were critical in shaping my career path,” Triveni reflects.

The Challenge of Working Abroad

Working in Japan didn’t come without its challenges. The most difficult one? Learning Japanese—especially the kanji! But surprisingly, Triveni found that the structure and sounds of the language were somewhat similar to her native language, Telugu, which made it a bit easier. She practiced daily and found that small achievements, like holding a conversation in Japanese, gave her a sense of progress.

Job hunting in Japan was smoother than she had anticipated, as most companies offered visa support. The real challenge was aligning her career goals with the expectations of the companies she interviewed with. However, her persistence and determination paid off.

The Emotional Ups and Downs

Adapting to life in Japan was an emotional rollercoaster for Triveni. While the excitement of living in a new country and learning a new language energized her, the cultural differences and language barriers often felt overwhelming. “Balancing my technical work while learning Japanese was tough at times,” she admits. But every small victory, like getting through an interview or mastering a new phrase, filled her with pride and kept her moving forward.

Cognavi’s Role in Her Journey

A big part of Triveni’s success was Cognavi’s support. The platform’s pre-assessment and skill-matching features helped connect her profile with companies that suited her skills. “Cognavi made the job application process easier, helping me stay organized and informed every step of the way,” she said. This support reduced her stress during what could have been a very overwhelming process.

Where She Is Now

Today, Triveni is continuing to learn and grow in her new role at Forum Engineering, a leading company in Japan. She’s also taking courses to build new skills, including an AWS course to deepen her expertise. With a strong focus on professional development, she’s confident that her journey in Japan is just beginning.

A Journey from India to Japan, Powered by Ambition

Triveni’s journey from SRM University to Japan shows that with the right mix of determination, support, and hard work, great opportunities can become a reality. Cognavi played a vital role in helping her overcome challenges, navigate the job market, and secure a role in a global setting. As she continues to grow in her career, her story serves as an inspiration for others looking to follow their dreams abroad.
